Several people told me that I needed to try this place out just for the chicken and waffles, and boy am I glad I did.
My mom, my husband, and I went early on a Saturday morning for brunch and were able to be seated pretty easily. The important thing to know is that they won’t seat you until the whole party is there. They also don’t have a parking lot so you may have to park a couple blocks away if it’s busy.
We ordered the Demon Lover, which is their famous chicken and waffle dish. According to their menu, it is “Spicy Buttermilk Fried All Natural Chicken Paillard, Buttermilk Waffle & Old-Fashioned Cream Gravy or Vermont Maple Syrup,” which is basically a ton of words to say “super delicious chicken and waffles.” For some reason I was expecting a dry piece of chicken, but this fried chicken was unbelievably moist and full of flavor from the spices they add in the buttermilk (but not hot spicy!). I’m also not usually a huge fan of gravy, but it was super creamy and so flavorful that I found myself dipping every one of my chicken and waffle bites into it. The waffle tasted like an ordinary waffle — I’m personally a fan of thick waffles, so if there’s anything I would change, that would be it. But let’s be real – that dish is delicious, and I will definitely be going back for that alone.
